Sister from Another Mother

I have never tried to jump in when my friends were fighting. I never was the type that got in trouble at school for behavior reasons. I am a calm gentle person who has never been the type to take up for nobody but my family and myself. People always said I was weird and different but I didn’t care. I have a friend from Chicago, who people love to pick on because of her differences from the type of style in South Carolina. She dresses different, talk different everything about her is different and people like to make fun of her.
My friends name is Ciara Anderson. Students at school pick on her often and all she does is take it because she doesn’t like to get in trouble. People call her dumb for no reason. She takes a lot of junk from her fellow friends or associates. I am the only one in South Carolina that she considers her true friend. She was once my roommate but I moved out for various reasons. Ciara is different like me I will take up for her in a quick minute. I love her and pray for her everyday that people would accept her the way she is.
People should accept each other for the way they are. Being a gentle person people like to take advantage of them. I and Ciara choose not to let that happen. Yes, people are different but as long as they like who they are and they are living for God it is just fine. Ciara is a girl with a lot of heart who I think likes to fit in with the South Carolina life but God made her to be her I pray that’s who she becomes.

Cellphones

Everyone I know uses a cellphone. My grandmother is a old lady and she even has a cell  phone. Without cell phones where would this world be? A cellphone is not the only way of communicating  with someone. The first cellphone was used just to dial in and out not send picture messages and to text.
Cellphones now a days are in all sizes. The smallest phone is a Samsung Juke, which Verizon Wireless is the service. The largest phone is a iPhone. A cell phone does anything a computer can do. It is just like carrying a mini computer around. I think it should be age limits to cellphones because they can be used the wrong way.
Would I be able to talk to my mother without a cellphone? The answer to that is yes. Other ways of communication are Facebook and or online live chat.  Cellphones should have been made in one size. Texting and other things could go wrong with having a cellphone.

Attendance Policy

Should colleges have an attendance policy? Who decides whether a school has an attendance policy. The president or the highest people of the school decides on what actions occur in that institution. Colleges should not have any type of attendance policy because people can make there own decision once they are in college and that a decision students have to make.
Teachers take attendance to get people to come to class so they want fail. College is a great experience to get out own your own and further your future. At big schools such as The University of North Carolina don’t have an attendance policy. People who attend that type of school is considered a number in the classroom. Smaller schools such as North Greenville University has an attendance policy. I feel students make up their own mind whether they are going to waste thousands of dollars of scholarship money.
College isn’t free like high school. College is a lot more expensive, Some people rather not throw money down the drain and attend class. We got to school to get an eduation not a vaction. By not coming to class at a big school there is still a chance you pass but not at small schools. All presdients of colleges should get rid of attendance policies.

What Mother Don't Know I Won't Tell

I must say I have only encountered at least two scary days in my life. One was when I was about the age of nine, I had trouble breathing and I thought I wasn’t gone make it. By the grace if God I’m here today. The second thing was on July 25, my birthday. On my birthday I stuck in a ditch in my mother’s car at one of my friends house.
It was a Saturday at six o’clock p.m. when I went into a ditch in my mothers car. My friend girl was having a get together just to have one so I decided to attend it without telling my mother. My friend girl lives in the country on the back narrow roads. When I arrived there were cars lined up and down the street and I needed somewhere to park. I ended finding a park but when it was time to leave I backed up in a ditch. My mothers car was sitting on two wheels. All I could do was cry to the Lord. After, I cried these two boys helped me out.
I never told my mother that I got her car stuck in a ditch sitting on two wheels or she would never let me drive again. I didn’t tell my mother that I was going down to my friend girls house that’s why I think I got stuck because I wasn’t suppose to be down there.

A weekend at NGU

My weekend begins on Friday after athletic chapel, which is something that athletics are required to go to at North Greenville University. I am happy when I have a few days that I don’t have to do work and go to class. At times I like to go home on the weekend because there is nothing to do at North Greenville. I am not trying to talk bad about my school but I need options for the weekend.
A weekend at North Greenville is boring. The only options are to study and do homework, which I dislike doing but I need to and have to do to pass. Without making friends here I think my life would be so boring on the weekend. This weekend just about all of my friends left except for two. I had nothing to do so I slept studied and got invited to the mall. I thanked God my friends wanted to go the mall so I could have something to do.
North Greenville needs things to do at the school for the people who can’t make it home on the weekend so we want be so bored. Studying and homework is good but when I need a break from studying there are no options. My weekend would be much better if I had things to do.

The Way I Dress

Everyone has their own style or fashion. My style presents who I am. My style could a mood of how I am feeling. I believe that I should dress to impress everyday. Fashion can determine wheter your happy or sad and it can also mean if you get a job or not. My dress is professional or business woman considering a collar shirt, jeans and sperrys.
My defintion of a business womans style is what I just described, a polo, jeans, and sperrys. I go for the professional look at times. If it is a rainy day or its gloomy outside my style is usually basketball shorts, sweats and a t-shirt. My philosphy is if I am going to a job interview the dress code is causal. It is good to set a good example with what I wear and how I wear it.
If I present myself well, I believe people will treat me better and with respect. Fashion can throw mixed emotions about people. If a teacher wears jeans and a polo they will be taken serious. My style is what presents me to others and I want to reflect something good!

Social Networking

Social Network are things such as facebook and myspace. It  is a way to communicate with people long distance without using the telephone. Social networking has a postive effect in todays world and a negative effect , but I am going to be going into the negative effects. The negative effect is that it can effects peoples interacting skills and it can make children and teens addicted to the internet.
The first effect is on peoples interacting skills. When you get around other people your quiet and don't know what to say. A job interview, when the boss asks you questions you answer with a simple question when there is more that needs to be said, social networking can effect people in that way. For kids, kids should stay online for the most 3 of 4 hours. This shouldn't distract time with school or time outside. Kids that stay online for hours and hours get addicted and would effect them in there everyday life.
Facebook should be a good social network for people. Talking to family memebers that are in another country, and hooking up with old friends. This is the purpose of Facebook I think. The age limit of these networks should be 12 and older. One day ther is good to be a positive effect on all social networks.

How God Changed Me

I am a Christian, and I have been once since I was about seven or eight years old. I accepted the Lord back in my younger days because I was on fire for God. The devil showed up in my life and I became distant from God. Being distant from God got me in a worldly way off living and my choices became worldly.
As a teenager my passion for God changed and my life seem like I was stuck in the same spot and area. The devil came in my life and brought girls as a distraction. With me playing basketball and all girls who play basketball are gay, I refused to let that be me. I went through that stage and my relationship with my family didn't go well and school wasn't either. God stepped in even though he was there along and showed me he was the way in my life and he changed me.
Yes, I still struggle with the gay thing but I thank God for delievering me. I continue to thank and prasise God everyday for what he has done in my life and how he will bring me threw. I feel now that my life and my future is brighter. Without God my life still would be going down the drain!

Happy 3rd Birthday

A birthday happen's once a year. Kyler Benjamin turned three years old and celebrated all weekend. I consider this little boy my favorite cousin. He is a bad little three year old who is into every sport. I taught him how to throw a football, and how to dribble and shoot a basketball.
Kyler Benjamin is my uncles only child and he is my grandmothers second grand child. Kyler loves to play basketball so for his birthday party my mother bought him a basketball with all of the National Basketball Associaction(NBA)teams on it and a Cars scooter. My other family memebers bought him cards with money in it. His mother and father bought him a basketball also. If you ask him how old he is he would say five but hold up three fingers. My family got a laugh out of that. Kyler enjoyed his birthday party, you could tell by his facial expressions and the way he acted. Kyler ran around with the other kids at his party and ate pizza and had cake and ice-cream. The week was a great time for the family and for him.
Happy Birthday to Kyler is what he heard all day, but loved it. He knew it was all about him that day. Birthdays are celebrated in a major way in my family so him turning three was major. Kyler showed his dribbling skills to family at his party and when he was asked who taught him how to dribble he would say me. Delighted to know I taught him that, thats why I consider him my favorite little cousin!

Spring Break 2011

My spring break was awesome. Being away from school is always a delight. I enjoyed being home from school and spending time with my family. The weather was rainy for the first few days but was nice and sunny the last few days I was at home. My favorite memeory about my spring break was when my family and I went to Myrtle Beach for a day.
Myrtle Beach was a vacation that me, my mother, my grandmother and my aunt took just to get away from home. This was considered a "day"cation for my family since we went on Saturday and came back on Sunday. Myrtle Beach is about 3 hours away from where I stay. We left at about 9 in the morning and got there about 12 or 1 in the aternoon. We stopped about four times for food, gas and bathroom breaks. Our check-in wasn't until 2 so we road around and went shopping. We checked into the room changed clothes and went to the beach and the pool even though the weather was kind of breezy. After the beach we all went our seprated ways. The beach was fun with my family.
I always enjoy time with my family. The laughter, the excitment and joy are things I miss with my family. At times I can get tired of family but with it all they still love me and I love them. My family "day"cation was fun and something I think we should do again!

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)

The Atlantic Coast Conference is a challenge between all the team on the Atlantic Coast such as the well known teams like Duke, North Carolina, Virgina and Miami. This a contest that tells whether or not your better than the other teams thats on the same coast. It is a great time for all the team to show what they got, The biggest joy in watching are the number one and two teams get upset by non-ranked teams.
My favorite team in the Big Ten, ACC or any other division is The University of North Carolina. This season the team has had some ups and downs but came out to be okay. Surviving with just about the whole team being freshman we made it to the ACC unlike last year were we played terrible and went to the NIT which is for the sorry lead. In the ACC you never know what a team has until there down by ten with two mintues to go. On March 3, 2011, we were down by ninteen and never lead in the game and ended up winning the game by two. That was the only time we lead. I feel the team showed true heart and wanted to continue to win the ACC Championship.
My dream was to play Division one basketball and I still believe I can. I wanted to play in the ACC with some of my friends that went DI, now I watch them on televsion wishing them well. I hope that North Carolina wins the Atlantic Coast Conference(ACC).

A Big Win

On the top of my game
Can't nobody shut me down
Moves are the same
I take a defender round and round

One basket, oh no two
Girls distracting me on the free throw line
I hate the colors gold and blue
Tick Tock goes the time

Fans on there feet
Coach comes out of his coat
Coach subs in a well known player by the name of Big T
Plays ran that he wrote

Up and down the court we go
Down by one, now up by two
That's game as the whistle blow
Now they complain there best player had the flu

What I Spend Money on?

My defintion of money is something you need to buy clothes, shoes, and food. I take money for grant. I always ask my mother and my grandparents for money. They always ask what do I need it for becasue I don't really need anything I just want it.
Where does my money go? Whenever I ask for money it usually gets spent at the mall on shoes and clothes. That is why I have a lot of shoes now that I don't need. I will probably buy snacks, now that I am in college I buy little snacks that I can eat on. Every now and again I may take some change and throw it in a well. On Sunday's I give my 10% tithe and the rest is mine to do whatever with. Being the only child I get money just becasue and I like it.
I should be smart with money. I always want but I don't always need. As long as when somebody gives you money you make a tithe first at the church. People around the world need money to eat, buy their children clothes but I choose to blow it on whatever. Money should not be taken for grant like I take it.

High School Basketball

High School is exicting in everyway. Games get intense and crowds get rowdy. I am going to describe to you my basketball memoryies from my freshman year to my senior.
Going into high school from middle school was a great transfer for me. Fall semester came around and basketball try-outs came along. Try-outs was easy, most of the girls on the team were the girls I played with on my traveling team. Me and my friend was the only freshman on the varsity. the other girls that tryed out were put on junior varsity. My sopohmore year we made ot to state and lsot by ten. Junior and senior year thesome of the girls graduared and I had to step up and be a leader. With me being a leader my team came out to be okay, finishing fourth in our region.
Basketball is my life I've been playing since I was at five or six and have great memories from then until now. High school was exciting and basketball made every bit of it so much fun.

Relationships

My defintion of a relationship is a male and female who have deep feeling for each other. All relationships aren't good and some people aren't made for each other. There is no certain age when you can be in a relationship, but the love has to be strong in it for it to be a relationship in my opinion.
In relationships there will be fussing, fighting, arguments, times when you don't agree with each other and other things. Relationships aren't simple. I am in a relationship and my partner and I argue all the time were it's like is there love in this? We have good times and bad times, which is part of a relationship as long as the good times out way the bad. As I mentioned in the introduction relationships have no age set but you have to be ready to be in one becasue they can drive you crazy, long or short distanse relationships.
To end this, I consider others to get in a relationships when your ready. Don't let anyone force you to do something you don't want to. Feelings can get hurt and hearts can break. Take the time to get to know your spouse so your relationship can last forever!

My Dorm Room

A dorm room usually consist of two beds, a bathroom, photos on the walls, papers every, a television, a desk and closets for clothing. Describing my dorm room is consdiered to be the easiest because I really don't have anything in my room. It is said that freshman year, your room is usually boring.
My dorm has two hard beds in it. I sleep on the side where the window is. I have orange covers and purple, orange and white sheets and pillow covers. I have a orange room. I have a desk full of books, movies and snacks. The books are stacked together very neatly. There is a computer and a television sitting on the desk as well. There is a fridge and a micro-fridge sitting infront of the sink. That pretty much describes my dorm room.
My teammates call me and my roomates room boring because we don't have pictures or anything exciting in it. It is jus a place where we need to eat, sleep and shower in. My dorm room is nothing like my room back room.

High School vs. College

Some people go to school because their parents make them and some go to learn and have a better future.I think college and high school are differnt in ways but high school and college are two things but you are recieveing the the same thing. High school you recieve a dimpolma and in college you recieve a degree.
High school you go to everyday at the same time and get out at the same time! In college some classes start at eight, nine, or ten and get out at anytime. High school is usually over at 3:15 in South Carolina but in college some people take night class that don't end to six or seven. In college you are likely to have a class everyday or two times a week unless the is changing. In college professors can cancel class but in high school the school can hire a substitute to fill in for their class that day. Study habits are differnet different in college. In high school there is like a test every friday buit in college you only take two or three test.
College is somewhat different from high school. Both are chances to make your future brighter. In my opinion high school is easier then college but college prepare you for college in all areas.

Who I am and What I believe my Purpose is??

I believe that God has a great plan on my life and if I choose to step out on his word and do what he tells me to do I will ne truly blesses. I believe God has called me to pray for others when they seem down, to encourge people and either to play professional basketball or be a basketball coach. This what I believe my purpose is.
I am a quiet person, I don't really express myself that much. I am a family type person, who is always with the fame. I love to play basketball, pray, eat, text and sleep. I think highly of myself and others. I treat people the way I would like to be treated. I don't really care about what other people have to say about me because God made me in his own image. I am confident in everything I do. I am taking up a Sports Management degree, trying to explore the fields of coaching and what it takes to be a good coach. I believe if I stay on the right track as of now while im in college I will fulfill these things.
I plan on having different experiences and tackling different goals to help me be what God has called me to be. My purpose is to make other's better by shining God's light off of me. I am who I say I am and I and going to walk the way of Jesus to fulfill my destiny.

I Worry, but it's in God's Hands

Why do people worry? I believe being anxious about something is a everyday thing especially for college students. Worrying can stress you out, there are a lot of side effects to worrying.
I worry about school work a lot. Now that I am in college and I have one class twice a week and another class three times a week, where do I study for the class that is two times a week. Basketball practice is like two hours long. I have to worry bout doing well in practice so I can play. Sometimes at practice when I know I need to study for a test afterward, my performance isn't good at all. I am to worryed on what I need to study and how long do I need to study. I also worry about things back home. My mother, my family and friends are mostly on my mind. I need to know how my mother is doing, how is her health, does she need anything. I need to know these things so I worry about those things threw out my day even when I know she is doing prefectly fine. I even worry about the simplist things like room check. If my roommate or suite mate don't clean the bathroom it is up to me to clean it so we wont get fined for it. Worrying stresses me out sometimes, but I put it all in God's hands.
In the bible it says,"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." So when I start to worry I turn to God's words.

First Encounter with the Police

When you see blue lights behind you while driving in a car some people automatically pull over or some speed away! The best decision is to pull over and see what the police wants, it is either something good or bad. Something simple as the light in the front of the car is out! My first encounter with the police was something simple, something we know we were not suppose to be doing!
My teammates and I had just had a game and we went back to one of a teammates house closer to the school where we were playing at so we could wash our clothes because they were obiviously sweaty from the game. We washed our jerseys together and waited on them to wash, while waiting on the clothes to stop washing we went back out and got something to eat. We were bonding as a team having a good time talking about the previous game, so our head coach texted me and told me we needed to hurry back to the school we had to play in 30 minutes. My teammates and I freaked out. We were not finished with our food the jerseys weren't dry, we didnt know what to do. I drove back to my teammates house we all got our jeresys which were still wet and rushed back out the house. Riding to the school we let all the windows down and hung the jerseys out the windows of the car, and I got pulled over. The police told me he was just going to give me a warning for air drying clothes.
This was something to laugh about at the end but in my mind I knew I was speeding and trying to air dry my jersey. Hopefully that day would we be my first and last time getting pulled over by the police. Something simple as hanging clothes out the window can get you pulled over, so my recommandation is to know that air drying clothes out of a window of a car is so illegal.

If I Could Live Anywhere

If I could live anywhere in the world it would be Hawaii, but why Hawaii? The photos that are taken makes Hawaii look like paradise and I want to experience paradise.
Hawaii has the the perfect climate, I don't ever hear of rain and storms that come threw often. It isn't to hot and it doesn't look like it's to cold. I hate wearing coats and jackets and in Hawaii seem like those two things aren't needed. Hawaii is the typical vacation spot. Living off of a island can be fun I think. It is like being at the beach everyday. Waking up to ocean waves and the calmness of the winds, is amazing!
I've never experienced anything about Hawaii except for a screen saver on my computer, I just know it looks cool and it is the type of place I would love to live! Maybe I will move there after I retire?

Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is Antwone Fisher, which based off of a true story. Denzal Washington and Derek Luke are the main characters in the movie.
Antwone Fisher is a about a boy who went to the navy, he had varies problems so he had to see a psychiatrist! As a child he was born in a jail cell because his mother was in jail and his father got shot by one of his previous girlfriends. She had to give him up for adoption and never came back for him! He was adopted by a lady who raped him and his friends. By the time he was twenty-four he met back up with his family!
I like this movie because no matter how much you go through in your life there is always a better outcome. Antwone never gave up; he was raised in church with his foster mom and never lost faith!
Antwone Fisher isn’t an old movie; it is inspiring to those who think they should give up! When I feel like I want to give up on something I will always remember the moral of this story!

Missing Home due to College

I attend North Greenville University, my home is two and a half hours from here. A home is a place where you grow up in, a place where you share lots of memories! Home is what a lot of college students miss!
I miss being at home in my nice soft comfortable bed. I miss my family being right down the street, anything I want is in walking distance from my house. Now, that I am here at college everything is out of walking distance for me. My friends aren't just a call away or a walk down the street! Now that I participate in college athletics seem to me I can never go home. There is practice during the week and practice on the weekend but I believe this is getting me better for my future!
Even though I may miss out on things back home, and I miss things at home I know that I can have a better understanding why God placed me at North Greenville University!

Why are there more people at a Men's basketball game compared to Women's Basketball?

Comparing women and men's basketball isn't that different, so why is there such a big difference in the crowd? Women's tickets cost the same, look the same they even have the same concessions!
As a basketball player I can literally count the number of people in the stands on my hands, unless it is a big rivial game but why? Do people think that men's basketball games has more hype? My reasons are that women's basketball is much slower then mens basketball, women can't dunk a basketball like a man can, is that why people don't come? Dunking tends to get the crowd pumped, God didn't give women the ability to jump that high! I believe this are the main to reasons why?
In a closing statement ,Women's Basketball should have more than ten people in the stand! My personal opinion is that women's basketball is better!
